Writing

At our school, we aspire to foster a genuine love of writing and create a culture in which writing is valued, celebrated and championed by pupils, staff and families alike. We believe that writing is a powerful tool for communication, creativity and self-expression, and that every child deserves the opportunity to develop as a successful writer.

Our aim is to equip all pupils with the fundamental knowledge, skills and understanding required to become confident, competent and resilient writers. Through high-quality teaching, purposeful writing opportunities and a rich language curriculum, we seek to nurture children who can write effectively for a range of audiences and purposes.

We are committed to ensuring that every child leaves our school with the confidence and capability to meet the demands of writing throughout their educational journey and beyond. By developing strong foundations, fostering creativity and encouraging high aspirations, we prepare our pupils to communicate their ideas with clarity, accuracy and impact, enabling them to succeed as lifelong learners and active participants in the wider world.

We have high expectations of all children and we encourage them to challenge themselves, show a resilience and determination to succeed and to show creativity and co-operation within their writing sessions.
